AirTran to add Nonstop flights to Akron in Nov.

AirTran said Friday it will add nonstop flights from Akron Canton Airport in Ohio to Southwest Florida International Airport in November.The flights will be offered Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays starting Nov. 4. Flights will depart Akron-Canton Airport at 8 a.m. and depart from Southwest Florida International at 6:18 p.m. The flights will be offered daily starting Nov. 18.The flight fares were not listed on AirTran's Web site Friday.The Conservancy of Southwest Florida Web site received a Gold Award in the prestigious 2009 Horizon Interactive Awards, which recognizes international excellence in interactive media production.

The site features a new layout, changing content, an events calendar, new online registration for events and opportunities to sign up for e-mail notices and legislative alerts.The redesign of conservancy.org was launched in October and was a collaboration between the Conservancy and Cool Blue Interactive.Some Lee County residents are forming a new chamber of commerce dedicated to businesses owned by natives of Caribbean nations and Brazil.Kurt Nussbaum of Fort Myers is spearheading the effort. Membership will be open to businesses in Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties.

Nussbaum said the chamber is being formed because many business owners from those nations have not joined other chambers in the area.There is already a Southwest Florida Hispanic chamber, hispanicchamberflorida .orgJ.L. Wallace Inc. has started construction of Bunche Beach Preserve, a new Lee County park along San Carlos Bay.The acre preserve project off John Morris Road in south Fort Myers will be self sustaining, allowing for no electric or water utilities. The project includes a storm water retention system, parking area, restrooms, fishing piers, kayak launches and boardwalks.
