A Wayne resident had his briefcase stolen from the inside of his rental car when a burglar smashed the passenger side window, police said.The victim had the car, a black 2009 Mazda 5, parked in the lot behind the Bonefish Grill on Route 1 in Iselin when he discovered the shattered window and saw that his black briefcase had been taken, a police report said.The victim told police that the briefcase – worth about $750 – had his wallet and paperwork inside it. The wallet had credit cards and about $20 in cash, the victim told police.The report said that one of the victim’s Visa credit cards may have been used at a local J.C. Penny. No evidence was left at the scene, the report said.
