Azerbaijani citizens pass education abroad

In the 1st half of 2009 the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan SOFAZ spent AZN 1.3 million to pay for education of citizens abroad within the State Programme of Azerbaijani Youth Education Abroad 2007-2015.

SOFAZ executive director Shahmar Movsumov says that more than 200 citizens of the country are getting education abroad at the state expense.Their number is growing constantly and we expect grave rise of this quantity before the end of the 2009.As of 1st April the government paid education of 191 Azerbaijani citizens abroad, including 40 ones educating in France, by 28 citizens in the UK and Russia, 27 in Germany, 24 in Turkey, 10 in the US.

Despite expectations, humanitarian specialties do not dominate on popularity among these citizens. 50% of them study technical specialities, 33% state administration and international relations, 20% medicine.
