An industry association has partnered with Anna University to bring projects developed by engineering students to industry. A meeting between the All India Manufacturer’s Organisation AIMO and Anna University, on Saturday, discussed plans to facilitate the adoption of students’ projects by industry.
Briefing reporters, AIMO chairman K.E.Raghunaathan said, Around 10 lakh engineering students are being produced and at least 2.5 lakh student projects are being done every year. Now only about 5 per cent of these projects are successful are adopted by industry Although some of these students have brilliant ideas, they don’t know how to market it. We want to conduct expos where we will bring the best projects from colleges under one roof from where industries can adopt them.
The idea is to not only reduce the gap between industry and education but also give a thrust to self employment, If industry likes a project they can mentor and fund students interested in starting out on their own. Why look for jobs when you can create jobs? According to him, implementation of an industry education interface will also improve the quality of projects being done and these projects will also cater to the needs of industry.
