Beautiful hotels in Sydney

We're heading to Australia on honey moon and are looking for somewhere special to stay in Sydney for the first few nights. Can we get a view of the Bridge or the Opera House? Jim Hughes, Cork

The best place to aim for in Sydney hotels for somewhere very special indeed is the Park Hyatt . This low rise luxury hotel sits right on the harbour at the opposite end of the bay, which is home to the Opera House and Circular Quay's ferry terminus. Rooms start at around €290, so you might wish to add a night here on to your wedding gift list but you'll be forever grateful to the person who secures you the view of the city when you first pull back the curtains. The Four Seasons another stunning property, is close by.

For somewhere more unusual. Run by the top end Taj Hotel group, it occupies part of a building in harbourside Woolloomooloo, where Russell Crowe lives. Doubles with water views start at around €160, and as you're in a less touristy area though still within walking distance of the city centre you may find you get more of an insight into what a very pleasant life Sydneysiders have.
