A group of young high fliers are today in Canada to attend a young entrepreneurs conference.
The 13 students have been chosen by Young Enterprise Northern Ireland to attend the event at McMaster University, Ontario. They were selected from over 3,000 achievers who took part in this year’s Young Enterprise Northern Ireland’s KEY Knowledge through Enterprise for Youth and Company Programmes.
Participants who displayed exceptional entrepreneurial skills were rewarded with the trip to the Canadian JAXchange Junior Conference, which brings hundreds of young people together from around the world to get a first hand look at the international world of business.
Fiona McCabe, commercial manager of Young Enterprise Northern Ireland, All at Young Enterprise Northern Ireland are delighted to be able to reward these exceptional young people with a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn about business and enterprise in an international context.
I have no doubt that their participation at this conference will consolidate the skills they have gained during the Young Enterprise experience, to equip them to become Northern Ireland’s future business leaders.Young Enterprise programmes give students a first-hand experience of the world of business by setting up and running their own business over the course of an academic year.
This year, 35,000 students from approximately 3,000 schools in the UK involved in these business start ups have achieved an estimated £2 million turnover to date, which demonstrates that the students do not perceive the current economic climate as a barrier to their success.
