Education System

Brunei is committed to meeting the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation's UNESCO Education for All EFA goals by 201S, by introducing the National Education System for the 21st Century SPN21 which are now being implemented.

Deputy Permanent Secretary Corporate Services at Ministry of Education Hjh Norjum Hj Yusop picture said To ensure the success of our own education in Brunei, we need to see that our education system and achievement be accredited.She said that SPN21 should be recognised and appreciated by international bodies and organisations such as United Nations, UNESCO, Islamic Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization and others.

Our ministry is continuously monitoring the progress and outcomes of our education system and SPN21 against international benchmarks and best practices in all areas of education such as teaching and learning methodologies. school management, curriculum development and so on.

She pointed out that SPN21 focuses on the pro visions of education in sustainable development as well as to meet the country's and social needs.This is especially in developing strong and resilient manpower, producing excellent educational administration, quality education and access to higher education.

Currently with SPN2L more financial support and resources are given to schools and higher institutions, and more human capital development programmes are being planned and carried outMany more other initiatives which are still in the pipelines need to be carried out in due course, Hjh Norjum added.

According to the deputy permanent secretary, Brunei has made a strong commitment to participate in many important educational events and projects organised by UNESCO, since the ministry has been appointed as the "Lead Agency" and Brunei National Commission for UNESCO.She stressed that the ministry was already committed in providing educational opportunities to all children, youths and adults.
