Flights Cancels

STORM Jolina killed at least three people, left four more missing and caused 24 domestic flights and one international flight to be canceled yesterday, officials said.The flight cancellations stranded 5,000 passengers, and those included 12 Cebu Pacific flights to Busuanga and Catarman and six Philippine Airlines flights to Osamis and Busuanga, officials said.

Four Sea Air flights to Kalibo and two Zest Air flights to Busuanga were also canceled, as was a China Airlines flight to Canton.A Gulf Air flight to Bahrain and a Malaysian Airlines flight to Kuala Lumpur were delayed by almost six hours, officials said.Weathermen were tracking the storm over the South China Sea about 540 kilometers northwest of the mountainous north, saying it had sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour.

The storm, the 10th to hit the country this year, struck northeastern Aurora province on Thursday and then sliced westward across Northern Luzon, swamping rice fields and causing landslides, government forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said.Four people drowned in floods in the Visayas, including a man who fell into a swollen river Friday, the National Disaster Coordinating Council said.

A child and her grandmother also died Friday in a landslide in Antipolo City north of Manila, the council said.Four people who were swept away by floods were declared missing in Iloilo and in nearby Negros.More than 9,300 were displaced from their homes, including 2,600 who were taken to evacuation centers.
