Pakistan and Iraq agreed to operate 14 flights

ISLAMABAD, Aug 8 APP Pakistan and Iraq on Saturday agreed to operate 14 flights in a week between various cities of both the countries. Bilateral Air Services Agreement talks with Iraq were held today in Ministry of Defence deciding to allow the designated airlines of each side to operate fourteen (14) weekly frequencies.

The number of destinations in each country have also been increased from one to five each, a press release of Ministry of Defence said here.Major General Retd Mir Haider Ali Khan, Additional Secretary led Pakistan delegation, whereas, Capt. Kifah Hasan Jabbar, headed the Iraqi delegation.The talks were held in a friendly cordial atmosphere. After thorough deliberations and keeping in view the good relations existing between the two countries, it was decided to enhance the existing number of frequencies so that the carriers of both sides, desiring to operate their services, could be facilitated.

Besides the already designated airlines PIA and Iraq Airways from Pakistan and Iraq, respectively, the private sector airlines of Pakistan including Air Blue and Shaheen Air International were also designated to operate their services.This reflects the desire of the two countries to establish air-link between the two countries to facilitate traveling passengers between the two countries.
