Southwest Airlines starts service Sunday in Milwaukee

Southwest Airlines begins service Sunday in Milwaukee with 12 flights a day three to Baltimore, three to Kansas City, two to Las Vegas, two to Orlando and one each to Phoenix and Tampa Bay.Milwaukee is the fourth new city for Southwest in 2009, following Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York, LaGuardia and Boston.

It enters a market that has two airlines focusing on Milwaukee: Midwest Airlines, now a subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings, and AirTran Airways, which has 19 destinations out of Milwaukee if I counted right.Southwest's first departure from Milwaukee was a 7:20 a.m. flight to Baltimore, which departed at 7:28 a.m. Its first arrival was a 8:15 a.m. flight from Baltimore, which arrived at 7:53 a.m.
