Evansville airport increased flights

The Evansville Regional Airport said they are adding more flights after seeing an increase in air travel compared to last year.Airport officials said their first priority is bringing back their Memphis connection. That was a real popular hub for us, airport spokesperson Dianna Kissel said. The flight was cut last September in an effort to save money during the merger between Delta and Northwest.

It will be one, 6:30 a.m. flight per day running Monday through Friday, starting in April. It is on the schedule now, so if people are traveling after April they can find it online, Kissel said. As long as people are using it on a regular basis, they'll keep it.The airport will also be adding a second flight to Dallas. This morning flight, in addition to their current afternoon one, will be offered seven days a week through American Eagle. Our Dallas flight has always been popular, but it was an afternoon flight, so it doesn't make it very convenient to catch a connection out west, Kissel said. So, this morning route will be excellent for that.

The morning Dallas flight will only be seasonal, and is temporarily scheduled to run from April through June.Airport officials said more flights could mean savings for passengers.Anytime we can add more seats and more competition, it brings the fares down, Kissel said. The more people that use the service, the better chances we have of getting those flights and getting those fares more competitive.
