Flights are canceled

Flights departing John Wayne Airport this morning bound for the Bay Area were encountering average delays of almost 45 minutes because of heavy fog in San Francisco, aviation officials reported.Flights leaving Orange County's aviation hub were experiencing gate holds and delays as they taxi along the runway, as well as airborne delays on arrival at San Francisco International Airport.Overall delays were averaging 42 minutes, and were also reported at Los Angeles International Airport and Long Beach Airport. Problems were expected to fade by noon.
