United Airlines announced Thursday that it will offer non-stop services from Gallatin Field airport to Los Angeles and San Francisco this summer.Beginning June 9, daily non-stop flights to and from Los Angeles will be offered until Aug. 23, and flights to and from San Francisco will be offered until Nov. 3.It means we have the best service to California we’ve ever had, said airport director Brian Sprenger. And with direct flights to both cities, we’ll have the best service in the state.
Direct flights to Los Angeles are new, and flights to San Francisco had only been available during the skiing season, said Rahsaan Johnson with United Airlines’ public relations and communications office. United also has direct flights year round to Denver and in the summer and winter to Chicago. We see an opportunity for meeting increased demand for the summer season, Johnson said.Sprenger said the service from Los Angeles will be available during a key summer period when schools will be closed, and the flights from San Francisco will extend to the end of the summer season. The cost of the flight will still depend on supply and demand, Sprenger said, but he expects the new flights will spur more competitive prices from other airlines.
