AirTran Airways start Flights to Orlando

AirTran Airways began its nonstop service between Des Moines and Orlando, Fla., on Saturday.
The airline kicked off the inaugural flight with a celebration with local leaders.Since announcing weekend service in November, AirTran said the response has been so strong that it will add a third Orlando flight to the schedule starting May 4.

Traveler Scott Clingan of Ankeny said he was happy to see AirTran back.Usually when I do fly, it's out of here, Kansas City or Chicago, he said. If I can do it here, it's much more convenient for me, so I don't have to drive down there to get the flight, be tired after being done and land and have to drive back two hours.Having AirTran return to Des Moines is fantastic, said Des Moines International Airport Board Chairman Jim Erickson. We can already see the effect their presence is having on fares.
