TransAsia Airways to start Xiamen-Kaohsiung flights

Starting April, 9, 2010, there will be direct air flights flying from Xiamen to Taiwan’s Kaohisung. The new route will be launched by Taiwan TransAsia Airways.It will be the first regular direct flight from Xiamen to the southern part of Taiwan. By then, the number of flights from Xiamen to Taiwan will be increased to 31 on a weekly basis, including Taipei’s Songshan, Taoyuan, and Taichung and Kaohsiung.

On March 12, TransAsia Airways announced in Fuzhou that it will open two cross Strait direct air routes: Fuzhou-Kaohsiung and Xiamen-Kaohsiung.The flights will take off from Fuzhou to Kaohsiung every Thursday and from Xiamen to Kaohsiung every Friday. By then, the number of the cross-Strait flights for TransAsia Airways will reach 9.It is reported that Xiamen Airlines had once opened direct charter flights between Xiamen and Kaohsiung for Spring Festival but were cancelled after the holiday.TransAsia Airways is an airline based in Taipei, Taiwan. It mainly serves the domestic market but also has limited scheduled international services to Macau and South Korea and charter services to some holiday destinations.
