Passengers on long-haul AirAsia X flights can now enjoy greater comfort with the introduction of flatbed seats, making it the first low cost carrier to offer such luxury.AirAsia X chief executive officer Azran Osman-Rani said the airline admitted that the old seats on its airplanes were neither suitable nor comfortable for long haul flights.
After reviewing all the feedback that we received from guests on our services, the need for better and comfortable seats tops the list. As frequent flyers ourselves, we understand the great need for comfort, especially for long haul flights. We are happy to tell our guests that their wishes have been granted, he said in a statement here yesterday.
The new flatbeds come with standard business class specifications of 50.8cm wide and 152.4cm distance between one seat and the next, with the ability to stretch out to 195.58cm in full recline position. The seats will also feature universal power sockets, adjustable headrests and built-in personal utilities like tray table, drink holder, reading light and privacy screen. The airline is currently upgrading its whole fleet with the new seats for all long-haul flights to Melbourne, Perth, Gold Coast, Taipei, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Chengdu, London, Mumbai and New Delhi.
The refurbishment is expected to be completed by June.In conjunction with the launch of the seats, the airline is also offering an exclusive Premium Seat Promotion for all Citibank credit card holders in Malaysia for flights from Kuala Lumpur to Perth and Melbourne.
