Winter flights to Romania have been launched at London Luton Airport LTN by low cost carrier Blue Air, which intends to build upon its summer flights schedule.The largest operator from Bucharest's Baneasa airport, Blue Air currently runs 13 flights a week from the London hub.Its winter season schedule will consist of flights to Bucharest, Sibiu and Bacau.
Sherif Ussama, chief executive of Blue Air, said: We are delighted to follow a successful summer with an extensive programme of flights from London Luton Airport for the winter.He explained that the airline attracts many different types of passengers, from people flying for the first time, through those returning home to visit friends and relatives to business people who are travelling on our flights on a regular basis.LTN says it is the main UK gateway for flights to Romania, with the 270,000 passengers travelling from the airport during 2009, a figure which represented 51 percent of the total market.Earlier this year, Wizz Air announced the launch of new flights to Split and Dubrovnik in Croatia from the south east hub, further enhancing its offerings to central and eastern Europe.
