Flights to Tokyo start by Garuda Indonesia Airways

National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia Airways will open new direct flights from Jakarta and Denpasar to Tokyo every day, starting from Aug. 31.The new direct flights are part of our route expansion and a response to the growing demands, mostly from businessmen, Garuda spokesman Pujobroto said as quoted by Antara news agency on Wednesday.

The Jakarta-Tokyo flight departs from Jakarta at 11.50 p.m. and arrives in Tokyo at 9 a.m. local time, then flies back to Jakarta at 12 noon local time and lands at Jakarta airport at 5.34 p.m.Garuda will provide Airbus 330-200s with a capacity of 222 passengers, including 36 at the executive class, for the new route.The company, Pujobroto said, considered the Japanese market an essential and potential market, given the fact that Garuda had been flight to Japan for more than 48 years.Currently Garuda flies to other Japanese cities from Denpasar such as Nagoya three times a week and Osaka five times a week.The direct flights offer immigration on-board services so that foreign passengers can obtain visa on arrival permit during the flight.
