Flights to Lanzarote from Shannon

Ryanair has confirmed that its flight to Lanzarote from Shannon will go ahead this winter, despite the airline’s announcement that it is to cut its services at the mid-west airport by a fifth from the beginning of November. Chief executive Michael O’Leary announced last week that the low-fares airline will cease operating on the Shannon to Paris route from November 1 next. However an airline spokesman confirmed to The Clare People that the airline will be operating the planned Lanzarote flight from the end of October. This is a route which we believe can support the increase in charges. It is also a route principally focused on passengers travelling out of Ireland to winter sun destinations as opposed to routes like Paris, where you are trying to get passengers in to visit the west of Ireland, he said. Not counting Lanzarote, Ryanair will now fly on just six routes out of Shannon compared to 35 two years ago.
