Three Arrowhead students are study abroad this year

Every new school year, Arrowhead brings in several foreign exchange students from all over the world. But as most are unaware, students at Arrowhead travel abroad to experience new cultures, as well. Three Arrowhead students are abroad this year.Junior Rachel Bero is living in Venice, Italy this year. She decided this as a sophomore and started working through a program AFS to become eligible to travel abroad. Rachel plans on playing tennis for a club team, since schools in Italy don’t have school sponsored sports. She’ll be living with a family fluent in English and consisting of senior twin girls, one who is traveling abroad in Europe

I have always wanted to travel abroad and once I had the opportunity, I couldn’t turn it down. I’m excited to see what life in Italy is like, said Rachel.Senior Emily Bero is living in Milan, Italy, an hour and a half away by train from her sister, Rachel. Emily’s school days are four hours long, but she must attend school six days a week, with Sunday’s off. The Bero sisters won’t be home until the middle of next July.Senior David Allen is living in China for first semester. He attained this opportunity through a program called NSLI-Y, and has met other foreign exchange students traveling to various parts of Asia. The use of Facebook is illegal, so his contact with family and friends will be slim to none. In China, he will be attending school as normal Chinese students do. The workload will be grueling, and the rules will stricter than those of America. He will return to Arrowhead second semester to finish off his senior year.
