United Airlines to start nonstop flight to San Francisco

United Airlines will begin seasonal nonstop flights between its San Francisco hub and the Mammoth Yosemite Airport near Mammoth Lakes, Calif. The airport serves the Mammoth Mountain ski resort. United affiliate SkyWest will operate the United Express service on 66-seat CRJ700 regional jets. The carrier will fly one daily round-trip flight during the winter. The schedule tapers off and ends in late April.

The new service offers great opportunities to enjoy all the activities and amenities that Mammoth Mountain has to offer,Howard Pickett, Mammoth Mountain's marketing chief, says in a press release.Prior to the launch of the service, San Francisco residents had to drive to San Jose to catch a direct flight here, but now they will have convenient access much closer to home.Alaska Air affiliate Horizon Air flies nonstop to Mammoth Lakes from San Jose.
