Study Abroad Programs Not Affected by European

In response to potential terrorist threats in Europe, the U.S. State Department issued a travel alert on Sunday. While the alert does not advise against travel to Europe in general, it does warns U.S. citizens of possible attacks on public transportation or tourist sites, urging them to take every precaution to protect themselves. Additionally, the government does not want colleges and universities to suspend their study abroad programs in the affected countries.

We're not recommending, that American citizens of any kind business, tourism, study abroad we are not we are not, not, not saying that they should defer travel to Europe at this time, absolutely not, said Patrick F. Kennedy, under secretary of state for management, in a press briefing.According to Inside Higher Ed, institutions are heeding the State Department's advice, sending out alerts to students and program directors, but not bringing anyone home.
