Low cost airliner AirAsia today announced increase in the frequency of flights in Chennai-Kuala Lumpur route by adding four more flights.Four more flights would be commencing from January 21, 2011 and with these additions, AirAsia will operate a total of 11 flights weekly from Chennai and total of 114 weekly flights from India.AirAsia said in a statement here.
Currently, AirAsia serves this route with a direct flight to Chennai departing from Kuala Lumpur on a 180 seater airbus A320.
As part of introducing the second new service, AirAsia will be offering a minimum price of Rs 2,999 per ticket as one way fare.The booking for the tickets commences from November 15 for the travel period between January 21 and June 30, 2011, it said.We had always known that Kuala Lumpur-Chennai route will perform exceedingly well. Chennai in Southern India is a highly popular and desired destination among Malaysian travellers. We feel that it is timely to add a second frequency and this is certainly a reinforcement of our growing interest in the Indian market,AirAsia Regional Head Kathleen Tan said.AirAsia currently serves over 130 routes covering destinations in Asia, Australia and in the Europe, the statement added.
