AirAsia stops flights from Penang to Chennai

AirAsia has stopped direct flights from Penang to Chennai.Tour operator P. Letchumanan said this had caused great inconvenience to travellers from the northern region who now have to go to Kuala Lumpur to catch a direct flight to Chennai.Northern region travellers would now incur more expenses and time will be wasted,he said, adding that travellers would opt for other airlines.

Tamil Nesan reported on calls for investigations into graft allegations against Penang Deputy Chief Minister Dr P. Ramasamy to be expedited.The complainants have given the DAP leadership until the end of January to conduct a transparent probe and reveal its findings.They warned that they would take the matter to the streets and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).Two of the three complainants, S. Deventhiran, 34, and T. Manogaran, 38, in a press conference demanded that Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng take note of their allegations.

Dr Ramasamy, meanwhile, claimed that the complainants were not genuine DAP members.Makkal Osai reported that in a dramatic turn, Ramalath, who had initiated legal action to prevent her husband, popular South Indian actor and film director Prabhu Deva, from marrying South Indian actress Nayanthara, had agreed to divorce.Both appeared in a family court in Chennai on Tuesday and filed petitions seeking divorce by mutual consent.
