Flight to Cairo launched by Jazeera Airways

The Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority granted Kuwait's budget carrier Jazeera Airways approval to start operating to Cairo International. It noted the approval was granted after the airline agreed to abandon its low-cost policy, according to Egyptian regulations.

These conditions apparently include complying with the country's pricing policies, adding a separate business class as well as accepting some regulations regarding flight reservations. The ECAA does not allow LCCs to operate to CAI to protect the interests of its national carrier EgyptAir, said ECAA Head Sameh Al-Hafni in the news report.Jazeera Airways Group, parent company of Jazeera and Sahaab Aircraft Leasing, earlier this month confirmed it reduced the order it placed for Airbus A320s in 2007 from 40 aircraft to 15 aircraft. The airline carried 1.3 million passengers last year.
