Nonstop service between New York and the Island begins today

Today marks the first opportunity to catch a nonstop Jet Blue flight between Martha’s Vineyard and New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport, the airline announced today. Jet Blue has partnered with Cape Air to offer up to five nearly-one-hour-long flights per week from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Daily service will begin in July.Jet Blue and Cape Air have worked in partnership since 2007 to deliver direct flights to Boston on Cape Air planes. This arrangement is a bit different. The nonstop flights between New York will utilize larger Jet Blue aircrafts with space for 100 passengers. Each seat will feature satellite radio and DIRECTV.

Most Tuesday and Wednesday flights through July 20 are available for just $69.Flights originating in New York City will depart at 1:15 p.m. and arrive on the Island at 2:25 p.m. Flights departing form Martha’s Vineyard will lift off at 3:03 p.m. and touch down at 4:10 p.m.
