After successfully launching the Direct Admissions of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme in the undergraduate engineering studies, the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) is now opening doors for postgraduate studies in 30 National Institute of Technologies (NITs) in the country for foreign students.
The NITK is the coordinating institute for DASA scheme and is the mentoring institute for the newly opened NIT Goa (NITG). Outlining the DASA scheme and its PG programme, director of NITK Prof Sandeep Sancheti told DNA, The DASA was a runaway success in its undergraduate version at all the 30 NITs, Indian Institutes of Information Technologies at Allahabad, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Kancheepuram and otherinstitutes that had participated and imparted graduate-level education in 35 streams of engineering.Students can also get a lot of exposure while studying in such universities and different course Business Administration,Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics.
The PG courses in DASA scheme require high-quality international academic facilities for foreign students as their degrees will have to be compatible with the courses in the country of their origin. To maintain that, the DASA PG courses will be provided in all NITs with only MBA and MTech with a maximum of 10 students for each stream and each institute. It is a revolution of sorts, thanks to minister of human resources development Kapil Sibal, said Prof Sancheti.
