Study abroad provides students the opportunity to take courses

Studying abroad provides students with the opportunity to take courses and do internships in other countries while also learning about the culture of the country. The program has become increasingly popular recently with the number of U.S. students participating in study abroad jumping 53 percent in the last five years. Amanda Schiff, a sophomore in marketing and international business, sees studying abroad as necessary part of her education.

I've known for a long time that I would study abroad in college,Schiff said.I'm so excited that I figured out a way to do it so early on in my college career.Schiff is currently in Seville, Spain studying business in Spanish as well as participating in an internship program with an international tour bus company. We had to go through an interview process after arriving to figure out what our internships would be. I got my first choice company,Schiff explained.Amanda also acknowledges how big a role her university played in getting her ready for her trip to Spain.I saw an adviser to talk to her and make sure that the program was a good fit for me,Schiff recalled. She made sure I knew all of the requirements included in the application.

With the popularity of the study abroad program increasing, universities are accommodating interested students by providing programs to study internationally as well as providing scholarships and scholarship information to make the opportunity more affordable.
