Alaska Airlines to begin flights to Boise from Seattle

Alaska Airlines will add two more direct daily flights between Boise and Seattle, starting Jan. 8.The airline saw an opportunity after Southwest Airlines decided to cut direct flights from Boise to Seattle, Reno and Salt Lake City in January. We made the decision, just in the last two days, said Marianne Lindsey, a spokeswoman for Alaska Air.We had the aircraft available. The flights fill in the gap that Southwest left for Seattle flights next year, she said.

The flights will depart Boise at 10:15 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Mountain time. Flights into Boise will depart Seattle at 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Pacific time. The Boise airport is very appreciative of its long-standing relationship with Alaska Air Group and is grateful it has recognized the need for increased capacity to Seattle, our most heavily traveled market, said Richard McConnell, airport director. The flights also give travelers from Boise easy connections to the growing list of destinations we serve beyond our Seattle hub, said Andrew Harrison, vice president of planning and revenue management for Alaska Air Group.
