Singapore Airlines hopes to launch flights to UK

Singapore Airlines UK & Ireland general manager has revealed he hopes the airline will continue to increase its flights from London if airports are flexible in growth. Speaking at SIA’s 25th Annual Parliamentary Reception at the House of Commons this week, Phee Teik Yeoh said the carrier was dedicated to increasing flights between the UK and South East Asia but showed concern for the ‘lack of flexibility’ at Heathrow.

He explained that its ‘stacking’ system compromised schedules but also caused unwanted additional fuel usage and noise. On the subject of sustainability, Yeoh voiced his opposition against the EU’s ETS taxation in favour of an international trading scheme for aviation. He said airlines should also be incentivised for their green efforts
