OKLAHOMA CITY New flights at Will Rogers World Airport will make traveling to Florida a little easier. Frontier Airlines is now offering non stop flights to Orlando and Tampa starting Friday. It was somewhat of a surprise, a city this large, doing this well, didn't have such a service says Daniel Shurz, Frontier Airlines. The new non stop flights are the first ever offered to the Sunshine State out of Oklahoma City.
Airport officials are working to expand service that allows passengers to arrive at their final destination without changing planes. It's always a tough sell because it's very competitive. There are many cities besides Oklahoma City vying for these same routes, says airport spokeswoman Karen Carney.Over the past few years, Will Rogers World Airport like other airports, lost non-stop service to several cities. As the economy turns around, airlines are showing interest in adding flights.A top selling point for airport officials is the city's continued growth.
It's important to communicate what is happening in the community, what are the positives, how is it going, how's it expanding and we've got a lot of good things going on in Oklahoma City says Carney. In the next few months additional flights will be added to Los Angeles and Denver.Meanwhile, the non stop flights to Florida are seasonal they end in April.
