Ryanair reduce Dublin flights

LOW-COST airline Ryanair said is to reduce flights at Dublin Airport by up to 20 per cent for the Northern Hemisphere summer. The planned reduction translates to a loss of 150 jobs including pilots, crew members and engineers. At least 2000 further support jobs were also expected to be shed at Dublin.

Ryanair blamed the cuts on rising airport charges and the tourist tax saying, Ireland, and Dublin Airport in particular, are now high-cost destinations, compared to other European cities where airports are lowering costs and governments are scrapping tourist taxes. The carrier expected total traffic at Dublin to fall from 20 million to 18 million this year. Further cuts in Ryanair's winter schedule were due to be announced later.
