Students receive study abroad scholarships

Three Western Kentucky University students have received study abroad scholarships from the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program.Rebecca Akers-Kuczek, Sara Newport and Sarah Nikolai are all studying abroad this spring, according to a news release. Akers-Kuczek, a Glasgow senior, and Newport, an Oakland senior, were each awarded $4,500, according to the release.

They’ll attend Kansai Gaidai University in Hirakata, Japan, to study Japanese brush painting, art history and language.Nikolai, a sophomore from Mount Juliet, Tenn., was given $4,000 to study art history and painting at the Lorsnzo de’ Medici school in Florence, Italy, according to the release.
