Joseph Slattery, of Mount Airy, a member of the Class of 2013 at Providence College, will travel to Australia this summer as one of seven recipients of the college’s Father Philip A. Smith, O.P. Student Fellowship for Study and Service Abroad.
The Father Smith fellowships encourage students to deepen their understanding of the Catholic and Dominican intellectual tradition and the philosophy of Christian service.Slattery, a biology major, will be working with the Eastern Australian Dominican Sisters in Sydney, Australia, in health care ministry.
