WestJet add extra flights between Calgary and Toronto

WestJet will be adding extra flights between Calgary and Toronto this weekend to meet demand from Stampeders fans trying to get to the Grey Cup.WestJet will add one flight on Friday from Calgary to Toronto and one flight on Monday from Toronto to Calgary, plus return flights in the opposite direction each day. The extra flights are already available for sale.Since the Calgary Stampeders won the CFL West final on Sunday, flights to Toronto have been booking up fast. By Monday afternoon, both WestJet and Air Canada were nearly sold out of their regularly scheduled flights, and the few seats that were still available were pricey.

WestJet says the recently added flights are also expected to sell quickly, so customers are advised to book quickly.Bob Cummings, WestJet’s executive vice-president of sales, marketing and guest experience, said the airline wanted to do what it could to help football fans celebrate this weekend.The Grey Cup is Canada’s oldest professional sports trophy and a truly Canadian celebration, Cummings said in a release. “In support of this iconic Canadian tradition, we are adding two more flights to help get more fans over their goal-line.WestJet said no regularly scheduled flights were cancelled to make way for these additional flights.
