Where the Ministry of Education used to write letters and distribute them to the local communities detailing changes and improvement in education, today the new website for the Ministry of Education was unveiled.
Filipe Bole, the new minister for Education, who has spent many years passionately supporting education for children in Fiji said that Anyone with a computer can simply connect to the internet to see what we are doing. They are the ones that can determine and testify as to whether we are doing enough.
He acknowledged that We are going to have to be prepared to spend more money in order to improve accessibility to the changes and improvements in education. If we do not have a website, we are potentially losing our business. He stressed that Fiji could learn from developed countries, saying that We need to know culture we need to share culture. With the website we can remain transparent with the world.
As well as finding out about changes and improvement in education, the website allows visitors to view and download forms for local schools. The schools themselves can even put information about themselves online via the website, which was described as ‘paramount’ for all schools.
