CU Students Enrolled in Study Abroad Programs in Chile Accounted For

University of Colorado at Boulder officials today confirmed that six CU Boulder students are currently studying in Chile or had plans to begin an academic program in the country next week. Five of those are safe and accounted for as of 2 p.m. Saturday, and one who is not accounted for was with family members in Chile and believed to be traveling in the country.

One student had not yet left for Chile. Two students are based in Santiago and are accounted for. Two students are based in Valparaiso and are accounted for.The student not yet accounted for is a student whose program has not yet begun and who was with relatives in Santiago and en route to Valparaiso over the weekend.CU-Boulder officials in the Office of International Education are working to determine the status of the Valparaiso-bound student. Officials are also working with Chile program participants to help them decide whether or not to terminate their study abroad session or remain in Chile. CU Boulder is not releasing the names of any of the students in Chile to protect their educational privacy rights.
