Flights from US

A number of tourism organisations are promoting Bristol as a destination to travellers from the US.South West Tourism, along with Bath Tourism, Destination Bristol and Bristol International Airport, is launching a consumer campaign to promote Continental Airlines flights from New York to the city.

According to information produced by organisers of the Explore England's Heritage Discover the South West initiative, the region received more than 200,000 American visitors in 2008, generating £77 million for the economy.Kirsty Cumming, head of marketing at South West Tourism which covers Bath, Bristol, Bournemouth & Poole, Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, Devon and Gloucestershire, among other places said tourists from the US are often attracted to Britain because of its history.The south west is a perfect destination with this in mind. We have four World Heritage sites along with an abundance of castles, forts and stately homes in addition to our literary connections.
