JetBlue Airways has canceled some flights in November between Stewart International Airport and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to conduct a pilot training program. The normally scheduled Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday flights to Fort Lauderdale from Nov. 1 through 17 will not run, said Derek Martin, deputy general manager at Stewart. He said JetBlue will be conducting pilot training work that necessitates cutting various flights around the nation.
The training is due to JetBlue acquiring new aircraft, he said.Mateo Lleras, a spokesman for JetBlue, said,This is a common practice for all airlines, usually during this time of year: as demand lowers, mid-week service is reduced in some of our markets to allow pilot training, difficult to schedule during busier times.
