Flight to San Juan starts by AirTran

AirTran Airways plans to expand service to Puerto Rico with twice daily flights from Tampa International Airport.The Orlando-based, low-cost airline’s new flights will begin on April 5, 2011, expanding its Caribbean schedule, including flights to San Juan from Orlando.San Juan is one of AirTran’s most popular destinations from Orlando, said Kevin Healy, senior vice president of marketing and planning, in a company statement. The airline expects it to be a popular destination from Tampa as well.

San Juan is a top destination for Tampa, but our community travels to other airports to get nonstop service,said John Wheat, interim executive director of Tampa International Airport. Our Tampa Bay community partners stepped up to support the airport and worked with AirTran to make this service happen.
