Flights to Mexico added by United and Continental airlines

United and Continental airlines said Tuesday that they will increase flights between the U.S. and Mexico.Continental will begin daily nonstop service between Los Angeles and Leon-Guanajuato, Mexico, starting Nov. 1, if the airline can get Mexican government approval.

Continental also asked the U.S. Transportation Department for approval to begin weekly nonstop flights between the Mexican resort city of Cancun and three U.S. cities: Austin and San Antonio, Texas, and Raleigh-Durham, N.C. Those flights would start Feb. 19.United said it will increase flight to Mexico City from Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles and San Francisco.The airlines are owned by United Continental Holdings Inc., formed by this month's combination of the two carriers.
