American Airlines is the first U.S carrier to offer a daily non-stop flights between Los Angeles and Shanghai. The first flight departed from LAX on April 5th and the first return flight from Shanghai took-off on April 6th.Between April 5th and June 30th, anybody who flies on a purchased First or Business Class ticket on the LAX-Shanghai route with American Airlines will earn triple AAdvantage miles. Customers who fly on a purchasedLAX-Shanghai Economy Class fare can earn double AAdvantage miles.Los Angeles is a key international gateway for American, as well as our oneworld partners,said Derek DeCross, American’s Vice President Sales.Our focus is on providing customers with as many travel options as possible at LAX, and that’s what our moves today are all about. These new routes, along with our joint businesses with British Airways, Iberia and Japan Airlines, give customers more choices for flights, connections and ways to earn AAdvantage miles.
Flights will depart from LAX at 15:10 in the afternoon, arriving in Shanghai at 19:45 in the evening the following day. The return flights from Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport will leave at 21:45 at night, landing in LAX at 18:40 in the evening the same day.The route between Los Angeles and Shanghai is incredibly popular, with around 200,000 passengers flying on this route in 2010. At Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport, customers will depart from Terminal 2, which is close to AA’s oneworld partners, allowing for smoother, faster connections to other destinations.The aircraft used on this service is a Boeing 777 with 16 First Class seats, 37 Business Class seats and 194 Economy Class seats. Passengers can enjoy the American Airlines Flagship experience in both First and Business Class. The First Class suite offers privacy dividers, 1-2-1 across cabin seating, a swivel seat with electronic recline, winged-adjustable headrests and laptop power ports. Passengers are given a premium duvet, an amenity kit and Bose noise cancelling headphones to watch movies on their personal TV.
American’s Next Generation Business Class cabin features fully customizable lie-flat-at-an-angle seats with electronic controls and an extended tray table. Business Class passengers can enjoy a selection of TV shows, movies, music and games on their personal in-seat monitor with Bose noise cancelling headphones. There is a divider between the seats which can be raised for additional privacy and there are two sources of light for illumination. Passengers are given a cotton duvet as well as an amenity kit containing skincare products and other useful items for freshening up.Customers in First and Business Class can select food from specially designed menus featuring main courses inspired by celebrity chef Sam Choy. They can also enjoy a choice of jasmine or black tea served in a teapot with teacups.
