Study abroad scholarships for teenagers

Philadelphia-based, AmeriSpan Study Abroad is awarding scholarships to middle school and high school study abroad students. The scholarships are available at all AmeriSpan programs for teenagers worldwide, including the very popular Barcelona Summer Abroad programs. Scholarships are limited to 1 or 2 recipients per location. The purpose for these scholarships is to make the programs more affordable while providing AmeriSpan with valuable participant feedback.Our Delegate scholarship has been popular with college students participating on our international programs so we have decided to create similar study abroad scholarships for teenagers. By asking the recipient to blog while abroad we are able to provide more participant-oriented feedback on our many programs,commented John Slocum, co-founder of AmeriSpan Study Abroad.

Applicants must plan to be abroad for at least 3 weeks, submit an essay and have at least a 2.7 GPA to qualify. In addition, at least one parent must agree to submit a post program evaluation and provide an email address that AmeriSpan will make available to other parents for one year. Finally, the scholarship recipient is required to submit some photos of their program after returning to the USA. The deadline to apply for the Teenager Delegate scholarship is before or at the time of submitting a program application.The organization's website includes complete descriptions of all high school summer abroad programs including full activity calendars, faculty-student ratios, detailed supervision details and AmeriSpan's proprietary Fun Rank.There are even locations where older siblings or parents can participate in an adult language program while the teen is attending a program with participants their own age.
