SkyWest Airlines will resume direct flights to Los Angeles from its hometown of St. George on March 6.The airline will operate one round trip daily between St. George and Los Angeles International Airport six days a week, Sundays through Fridays.There will be no Saturday flights, SkyWest said Friday.The new Los Angeles flight is the result of extensive analysis, as well as a continued investment by SkyWest in our hometown,SkyWest spokeswoman Marissa Snow said in an e-mail.The airline will operate the flights for United Airlines as United Express.It will fly the route with 30-seat Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia turboprop aircraft.The return of Los Angeles service is yet another boost for SkyWest’s hometown,SkyWest President Chip Childs said in a statement.
Tickets will be available for purchase beginning on Tuesday.SkyWest previously provided flight to Los Angeles for several years but discontinued it in the fall of 2009.Last month, SkyWest said it will replace turboprop flights with first-ever jet flight between St. George and Salt Lake City.The start of the new service is effective Jan. 13. It coincides with the opening of the new St. George municipal airport.
